The Brother MFC-EX670 is a colour laser multifunction machine for printing, scanning, copying, and faxing. Its electrophotographic laser engine is backed by 2 GB of standard memory. A 7.0-inch TFT colour touchscreen carries the main controls. For batches of originals, the 100-sheet automatic document feeder sits above the scanner glass and can read both sides without requiring each sheet to be turned by hand.

Colour and monochrome printing both reach 40 pages per minute. Automatic duplex output runs at 40 sides per minute, so two-sided jobs do not require manual page handling. Standard print resolution is 600 x 600 dpi, with 2400 x 600 dpi quality available. Scans from either the flatbed or feeder reach 600 x 600 dpi, and the feeder can scan two-sided originals. Copying reaches 600 x 600 dpi, with enlargement or reduction from 25 to 400 percent.

The main cassette holds 520 sheets. A separate multipurpose tray takes another 100 sheets of plain paper or as many as 15 envelopes, giving smaller or less frequently used media their own feed path. Paper from 60 to 230 g/m2 can be loaded in either feed. Printed pages normally collect face down in the 250-sheet output tray, although a single-sheet face-up path is available. Automatic duplex printing can be used with A4, Letter, Legal, Folio, and other approved sizes.

A nearby computer can connect over Hi-Speed USB 2.0, and Gigabit Ethernet provides the built-in wired network connection. Wireless operation is different because Wi-Fi requires the optional wireless module rather than being standard hardware. Once installed, that module can use 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz infrastructure networks and Wi-Fi Direct. NFC is built into the machine for supported near-field functions. The chassis measures about 503 x 586 x 541 mm and weighs 37.0 kg with supplies installed.
