The primary connectivity is through the hi-speed USB 2.0-compliant port. Also, there is the Wireless 802.11b/g and a wired Ethernet network, with which it connects with other devices. The manufacturer recommends an internet connection to optimize some of the features of this device.
Paper Handling
HP Officejet J6480 supports some media sizes including Plain paper, Envelopes, Transparencies, Labels, Photo paper, Cards, etc. the input paper tray holds about 250 sheets of plain paper, but it has a lesser capacity for other paper sizes. The output tray, however, can only hold 150 sheets of plain paper in text printing. The Automatic Document Feeder of this printer can hold 35 sheets of plain paper and 20 sheets of special paper.
Printer specifications
The black print has a resolution up to 1200 dpi with pigmented black ink. However, the color print resolution with enhanced photo quality with Vivera Inks is up to 4800 x 1200 dpi. This print is possible with HP Premium Plus Photo papers with 1200 x 1200 input dpi. the print speed is 31 ppm (black) while it is 25 ppm (colored)
Scanning specifications
The scanning function uses the Image editor with an Integrated OCR software that automatically converts scanned texts to editable texts. In addition to this feature, the scanner also has a TWAIN-compliant feature.
The scanning resolution is 2400 x 4800 ppi optical and up to 19200 ppi enhanced.
Power Consumption
The printer consumes only 35 watts of power while printing and uses 40 watts while copying (Fast Draft Mode).

1. The printer has no duplexer. That implies that it cannot automatically print on both sides of the paper.
