HP LaserJet Pro MFP M126nw plus Driver lets the computer identify the machine and exchange commands with it correctly. Printing, flatbed scanning, and copying can then run from compatible applications. A nearby computer may use USB, while Ethernet connects the printer to a wired network. Wireless setup removes the cable, and scanned pages return to the computer after each original is placed on the flatbed.

The HP LaserJet Pro MFP M126nw plus is a monochrome laser multifunction printer that prints, scans, and copies. A 1 GHz processor and 128 MB of fixed memory run the machine. Copy and network settings appear on a two-line STN LCD beside physical control keys. There is no fax unit or automatic document feeder, so the flatbed accepts one original at a time.
Black pages come out at up to 20 pages per minute, with the first page ready in as little as 9.5 seconds. Print resolution tops out at 600 x 600 dpi. Scanning relies on the flatbed and reaches up to 1200 dpi. Copies run at the same 20-page-per-minute rate. Size can be reduced to 25% or enlarged to 400%, and one original can be repeated up to 99 times.
Paper loads into a 150-sheet input tray, but the face-down output bin holds 100 sheets. Standard document sizes include A4, A5, Japanese B5, and 16K. Postcards, envelopes, and custom sheets from 76 x 127 mm to 216 x 356 mm use the same feed. It also takes labels and transparencies alongside ordinary laser paper. Automatic duplex hardware is not fitted, so two-sided pages must be turned over by hand.
A nearby computer can connect through Hi-Speed USB 2.0. Ethernet provides a wired network link, and wireless jobs travel over 2.4 GHz 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi Direct permits a compatible device to connect without using the home router. Mobile printing is available through Mopria, Apple AirPrint, and the HP app. With its trays closed, the body measures 420 x 365 x 254 mm and weighs 8.0 kg. Power draw reaches 501 watts during printing, then falls to 4.7 watts in the ready state.
