Epson SureColor T2170 Driver establishes communication between the computer and this 24-inch large-format printer. A local computer can connect by USB, while Ethernet places the printer on a wired network. Wireless jobs can travel through Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi Direct when a router connection is unavailable. The Epson SureColor T2170 is a print-only inkjet that takes rolls up to 24 inches wide. Printing comes from a four-channel PrecisionCore MicroTFP printhead, with 800 nozzles assigned to each channel. Cyan, magenta, yellow, and black UltraChrome XD2 pigment inks supply the color. Standard cartridges contain 26 ml for each color and 50 ml for black. A 4.3-inch color touchscreen controls jobs at the machine.

Maximum print resolution reaches 2400 × 1200 dpi. At its rated speed, an A1 or D-size drawing takes about 43 seconds to print. Variable Droplet Technology can place droplets as small as 4 picoliters and form three droplet sizes within one line. The hardware has no scanner, copier, fax, or automatic document feeder. Originals must therefore be handled outside the printer.

Roll paper enters through the main roll path, and loose sheets can use either the automatic feeder or the manual slot. The feeder holds up to 50 plain sheets, but other media reduce that capacity to five. It accepts A3, A4, Letter, and Legal paper. Wider cut sheets from 8.23 to 24 inches go through the manual feed. Roll media fits a 2-inch core and may measure 13 to 24 inches across, with an outer diameter no larger than 4.33 inches.

A nearby computer can connect through SuperSpeed USB. Ethernet provides 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, and 1000BASE-T networking, and wireless jobs use the 2.4 GHz IEEE 802.11b/g/n band. Wi-Fi Direct permits compatible phones or tablets to connect without the home router. In its desktop position, the printer measures 38.19 inches wide, 20 inches deep, and 9.05 inches high.
