Brother MFC-J6977DW is an A3 colour inkjet all-in-one with print, scan, copy, and fax functions. Piezo print-head hardware carries 420 black nozzles and 420 nozzles for each colour channel. Memory is 1 GB, while the control panel uses an 8.8 cm, 3.5-inch TFT colour touchscreen. A 50-page ADF works with the scanner glass for single-sided and two-sided originals during duplex scanning.
Printing reaches up to 1200 x 4800 dpi, and the language set covers PCL6, BR-Script3, and PDF 2.0 emulation. A4 print speed is about 31 ipm in mono and 31 ipm in colour. Automatic duplex A4 output reaches about 22 ipm for both modes. A3 mono printing runs at about 7 ipm, while first print time is under 4.6 seconds from Ready mode in colour mode.
Scanning works in colour and monochrome from either the glass or the ADF. The scanner glass reaches up to 1200 x 2400 dpi, while the ADF uses 600 x 600 dpi. Copying prints at up to 1200 x 4800 dpi, stacks or sorts up to 999 pages, and supports 25 to 400 percent scaling.
Paper input comes from three 250-sheet trays and a 100-sheet multipurpose tray. Tray 3 belongs to this model within the related group, and the multipurpose tray also takes one long sheet up to 1200 mm high. Automatic two-sided printing covers A3, Ledger, Legal, Folio, A4, A5, Letter, Executive, B5, and B6. Connections include Hi-Speed USB 2.0, Gigabit Ethernet, wireless LAN, Wi-Fi Direct, and NFC; body weight is about 27.6 kg.
