The Brother MFC-J6960DW is a colour inkjet all-in-one for print, scan, copy, and fax work. Its piezo printhead carries 420 black nozzles and 420 nozzles for each colour channel. The machine has 512 MB memory, and the front panel uses a 3.5-inch TFT colour touchscreen. Originals can lie on the A3-size flatbed or feed through the 50-page automatic document feeder. Four separate cartridges supply the ink.
Print resolution reaches up to 1200 x 4800 dpi. Black output runs at up to 31 ppm, and colour output runs at up to 30 ppm. The first page takes about 4.4 seconds in black or 4.6 seconds in colour. For two-sided sheets, automatic duplex printing works on plain or recycled paper up to Ledger and A3. Borderless printing also reaches Ledger and A3.
The flatbed reads originals at up to 1200 x 2400 dpi. From the ADF, scan resolution reaches 600 x 600 dpi, with interpolation up to 19200 x 19200 dpi. The feeder can scan both sides of an original without manual turning. Copy output reaches up to 1200 x 4800 dpi and can stack or sort as many as 999 pages. Faxing uses a 33.6 Kbps modem, 150-page memory, and 250-location broadcasting.
Paper starts in two 250-sheet trays, with a 100-sheet multipurpose tray for extra loading. These paths take Letter, Legal, Ledger, Executive, A3, A4, A5, A6, envelopes, photo paper, and index cards. The output area holds 100 sheets up to Letter or A4, but larger paper lowers capacity to 50 sheets. Hi-Speed USB 2.0 handles a direct computer link. Network and mobile printing can use Gigabit Ethernet, dual-band Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, AirPrint, Mopria, Brother Mobile Connect, or USB host access.
