Brother DCP-T500W is a colour ink-tank multifunction inkjet with print, scan, and copy functions, while fax hardware is not part of this DCP model. Printing comes from a piezo head with 210 mono nozzles and 70 nozzles for each colour. The refillable tank system uses Brother ink bottles rather than cartridges. Local control runs through a 16-character, one-line LCD with 64 MB memory.

Print resolution reaches up to 1200 x 6000 dpi, while ISO print speed runs up to 11 ipm in mono and 6 ipm in colour. Fast mode reaches 27 ppm mono and 10 ppm colour. Flatbed scanning works at up to 1200 x 2400 dpi optical resolution. Interpolation reaches up to 19200 x 19200 dpi. Copy output reaches up to 1200 x 2400 dpi.

Borderless printing covers A4, Letter, A6, Photo, Photo 2L, and listed index-card media for edge-to-edge print output.

Paper input comes through a tray for about 100 sheets of 80 gsm plain paper, while output holds up to 50 sheets. Tray accepts plain, inkjet, glossy, and envelope media in A4, Legal, Executive, Letter, JIS B5, A5, A6, and photo sizes. Computers connect through Hi-Speed USB 2.0.
