The HP OfficeJet Pro 8125 Driver gives the computer the software link needed to communicate with this all-in-one printer. Print jobs, scan requests, and copying controls depend on that connection being recognized correctly. The same communication path carries print settings to the machine and returns scanner commands when a document is placed for scanning. Wireless use still requires the printer and computer to maintain a working connection before those functions respond as expected.

The HP OfficeJet Pro 8125 is a color inkjet all-in-one built for printing, scanning, and copying. Fax hardware is not fitted. Printing comes from HP Thermal Inkjet technology, using separate pigment cartridges for black and the three color inks. Front-panel work goes through a 2.7-inch capacitive color touchscreen. The machine also carries 512 MB of memory and a 1.2 GHz processor.
ISO print speed reaches 20 ppm for black documents and 10 ppm for color. Draft mode runs faster, topping out at 29 ppm black and 25 ppm color. Black output can reach 1200 x 1200 rendered dpi. On HP Advanced Photo Paper, optimized color resolution rises to 4800 x 1200 dpi. The scanner records originals at up to 1200 dpi optically, and copy size can be adjusted from 25 to 400 percent.
Paper loads into a 225-sheet main tray, with finished sheets collecting in a smaller 60-sheet output tray. A 35-sheet automatic document feeder takes originals as large as Legal. It scans one side of each original, so double-sided source pages need manual handling. Automatic duplexing applies to printing instead. Borderless output reaches Letter or A4 on suitable photo and brochure paper. The main tray also takes custom sheets from 3 x 5 inches up to 8.5 x 14 inches.
A nearby computer can use the Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connection, and Ethernet is present for a wired network. Wireless jobs can travel over dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi Direct provides another route when a direct device-to-printer connection is needed, with AirPrint and Mopria available for compatible mobile hardware. With its trays closed, the body measures 18.11 x 13.29 x 9.17 inches and weighs 17.6 pounds. Power use falls from 4.07 watts in ready mode to 1.02 watts during sleep and 0.11 watt when manually switched off.
