HP Officejet K7108 Printer Overview

The HP Officejet K7108 comes in a small size with dimensions 186.3 x 574.5 x 409.5 mm (HWD). The measurements relate to when the input tray is not yet out. But when the tray is entirely out, the depth of the printer is 631 mm. This feature has a complement of a weight of 11 Kg.

The printer belongs to the K7100 series which also include other members such as HP Officejet K7100 and HP Officejet K7103.

HP Officejet K7108 driver works well with Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows 7.
For Windows 2000 and XP systems, the minimum processor is an Intel Pentium II with 233 MHz or higher. HP, however, recommends a Pentium 4 or higher. Windows Vista and Windows 7 requires an 800 MHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor. Whereas, HP recommends 1 GHz or higher for smoother running.

The recommended RAM is 256 MB for Windows 2000 and XP and 1 GB or higher for Windows Vista and 7. The free hard disk space should be 795 MB for Windows 2000 and XP, then 850 MB for Windows Vista and 7.

The HP Officejet K7108 driver supported versions of Mac OS include OS X 10.3.8 and higher versions. The other one is OS X 10.4.6 and different higher versions
The required processor is a 400 MHz Power PC G3 processor for v10.3.8 and higher. Mac OS X version v10.4.6 and higher versions require a 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo processor. The RAM size of this printer should not be less than 256 MB for all supported versions of Mac OS. Before running the installation, at least a minimum free hard disk space should be 200 MB. However, HP recommends a 500 MB of hard disk free space.

Print Resolution

The printer produces color prints at a resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi (maximum). However, it can also be optimized especially with an input resolution of 1200 dpi when printing in color. It is essential to note that this mode can use a significant amount of hard disk space temporarily, say 400 MB or more. Publishing in this mode can also be relatively slower. Finally, when a photo cartridge is present, the print quality is further enhanced.

Internal Memory

The HP Officejet K7108 has an inbuilt memory of 16 MB of RAM.

Paper Handling

The printer supports some media types and sizes including Plain paper, Index cards, Banners, Photo cards. Others are Glossy papers, Inkjet, and Transparencies. The varied sizes also include the Standard US and Standard International sizes, such as Letter, Executive, Statement. Others are A4, A5, A3, A3+, JIS-B4, etc. The device also supports custom sizes.
The input tray can hold about 150 sheets of plain paper while the output tray can only hold 75 sheets. These capacities reduce for other types of media sizes. The device can use an optional automatic two-sided printing accessory, called the duplexer unit. This unit enables the printer to print on both sides of the paper automatically. The absence of it means that whenever the user wants to print on both sides, the user turns the paper manually.

Power Specifications

The power usage on the printer is 60 watts (maximum) with an input voltage range of 100 to 240 VAC. The current is 1300 mA at 50/60 Hz. However, the output voltage is 32 V DC, with 1500 mA.
The HP Officejet K7108 is Energy Star certified because of its design that is capable of reducing power usage and save natural resources. This saving it does without compromising its printing quality

Limitations

1. The printer is a print-only device. It cannot scan nor copy nor send and receive fax
2. The printer connectivity is limited to only the Hi-speed USB 2.0 port. No Bluetooth, No wireless, and No Ethernet
3. The HP Officejet K7108 cannot print from mobile devices
4. The duplexer unit is optional. It does not come with the printer
5. There is no USB printer cable in the package. The user may have to buy one from a trusted store
