Brother DCP-T583DW is a three-in-one colour inkjet tank printer for printing, scanning, and copying. Fax hardware is not part of this DCP model. Printing uses a Brother piezo head with 210 mono nozzles and 70 nozzles for each colour. Memory capacity is 128 MB. A one-line LCD handles local operation, and scanning works from the flatbed only, without an automatic document feeder.
Windows print resolution goes up to 1200 x 6000 dpi. Brother also lists standard document output at up to 1200 x 1800 dpi for document pages. Automatic two-sided printing works from the computer driver. Borderless output uses a separate setting, since duplex printing cannot run with borderless mode. Copy controls include multi-copy, stack, sort, enlargement and reduction, N-in-1, and 2-in-1 ID copy.
Paper loads from a 150-sheet standard tray or a single-sheet manual feed slot. Printed sheets collect in a 50-sheet output area. Accepted sizes cover A4, Letter, Legal, Mexico Legal, India Legal, Folio, Executive, A5, A6, envelopes, Photo, Photo L, Photo 2L, and supported index card media. The manual feed path gives envelopes or heavier sheets a separate route through the front paper area.
Hi-Speed USB 2.0 handles the direct wired link. Wireless printing can use wireless LAN, Wi-Fi Direct, AirPrint, Mopria, and Brother Mobile Connect. The European wireless specification lists IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n for infrastructure mode and IEEE 802.11a/g/n for Wi-Fi Direct. Power use is about 16 W while copying, 2.5 W ready, 0.6 W asleep, and 0.15 W off. The grey Tankbenefit body uses black, cyan, magenta, and yellow refill bottles.
