The HP Smart Tank 724 Driver lets a computer identify the wireless all-in-one correctly before printing starts. A USB setup keeps the link to one nearby computer, while wireless setup sends jobs over Wi-Fi once the printer joins the network. Scanning and copying controls become available from compatible desktop software after the driver and printer connection are in place. Correct driver support helps prevent basic communication failures, so text, graphics, and colour pages reach the machine as expected.

HP Smart Tank 724 is a colour all-in-one ink tank printer for printing, scanning, and copying. Printing comes from HP Thermal Inkjet hardware, with separate black, cyan, magenta, and yellow bottles feeding the tanks. Local control uses a narrow 70 x 12 mm LCD with guided buttons. Scanning relies on a CIS flatbed, so each original goes on the glass by hand. Fax hardware and an automatic document feeder are not fitted.

Black ISO printing runs at 15 pages per minute, and colour ISO output reaches 9 ppm. Draft mode is quicker, at up to 23 ppm in black and 22 ppm in colour, but that setting is meant for faster everyday pages. Best black output reaches 1200 x 1200 rendered dpi. Colour printing from a computer can rise to 4800 x 1200 optimized dpi on suitable HP photo paper. The flatbed scans at up to 1200 x 1200 dpi and accepts originals up to 216 x 297 mm.

Paper loads through a 250-sheet input tray, which is generous for a small tank printer. Finished pages collect in a 100-sheet output tray, so long print jobs may still need clearing before the input tray runs empty. Automatic duplexing turns plain sheets for two-sided printing. Borderless output reaches Letter or A4 size, including 210 x 297 mm sheets. Photo paper can be matte or glossy. The same tray also takes brochure paper, presentation sheets, envelopes, light paper, and recycled stock within HP’s listed weight range.

A wired setup uses Hi-Speed USB 2.0 for one nearby computer. Wireless jobs can run through dual-band Wi-Fi, and Wi-Fi Direct helps when a router connection is not available. Phones and tablets can print through Apple AirPrint, Mopria, the HP app, or direct wireless printing. Inside, an 800 MHz processor works with 128 MB of memory. Ethernet, memory-card slots, and camera-direct PictBridge are absent. With the trays closed, the body measures 42.75 x 36.40 x 19.86 cm and weighs about 6.38 kg.
