The HP Smart Tank 510 is a wireless all-in-one inkjet that prints, scans, and copies. Printing comes from HP Thermal Inkjet hardware fed by refillable black, cyan, magenta, and yellow ink tanks. A 2-inch icon display shows basic status information. Scanning relies on a flatbed, and there is no automatic document feeder, so each original has to be placed on the glass by hand.

ISO print speed reaches up to 11 ppm in black and 5 ppm in color. Best-quality black output can reach 1200 x 1200 rendered dpi. Color resolution rises to 4800 x 1200 optimized dpi when the source is supplied at 1200 dpi. The flatbed scans at up to 1200 dpi optical resolution. Standalone copying can make as many as 99 copies, with copy resolution reaching 600 dpi.

Paper starts in a 100-sheet input tray, but the output tray holds only 30 sheets, so longer jobs may need attention before the input tray is empty. Standard paper choices include A4, B5, and A6, with DL envelopes also accepted. Custom sheets can range from 76.2 x 127 mm to 215.9 x 355.6 mm. Borderless output reaches 210 x 297 mm. Automatic duplex hardware is not fitted, so two-sided pages must be turned manually, and there is no fax function.
