HP DeskJet Ink Advantage Ultra 4800 Driver links the computer with the printer’s print and scan hardware. Once installed, the system can find the machine and send jobs using the selected paper and quality settings. A nearby computer can connect by USB, or print commands can travel over the wireless network. Scanning and copying remain available from this all-in-one model when the correct software is installed.

HP DeskJet Ink Advantage Ultra 4800 is a colour thermal inkjet all-in-one that prints, scans, and copies. Ink comes from two HP 47 cartridges: one black and one tri-colour. Scanning relies on a CIS flatbed, so originals must be placed on the glass one at a time. Buttons and a small icon LCD make up the control panel. The machine has no fax hardware, touchscreen, memory-card slot, or automatic document feeder.
Black documents can reach 1200 × 1200 rendered dpi. Colour output rises to 4800 × 1200 optimized dpi when suitable HP photo paper is used. Standard A4 printing runs at up to 8.5 ppm in black and 5.5 ppm in colour. Draft mode trades output quality for speeds of up to 20 ppm black and 16 ppm colour. The flatbed scans at up to 1200 dpi, and the copier can produce as many as nine copies from one original.
Paper loads into a 60-sheet input tray, but the output tray holds only 25 printed sheets. Common document sizes include A4, B5, and A6, with DL envelopes using the same feed. Photo sheets, brochure stock, and cards also fit; card weight can reach 200 g/m². Borderless output is not available. Two-sided documents require the user to turn and reload each sheet because automatic duplexing is absent.
A nearby computer can use the Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port. Dual-band Wi-Fi places the printer on a wireless network, and Wireless Direct can connect a compatible device without the router. Phones and computers can send jobs through Apple AirPrint, Mopria, Chrome OS, or the HP app. With its trays closed, the body measures about 425 × 304 × 154 mm and weighs roughly 3.42 kg. HP rates the maximum monthly duty cycle at 1,000 A4 pages, rather than as a recommended everyday workload.
