This product is a viable product for both private and commercial printing as a multipurpose device. The all-in-one printer can scan, print, copy, and send or receive fax messages. It connects through a single USB 2.0 port client and hosts for a thumb drive and WiFi 802.11 b/g/n. Other options include Ethernet LAN port, RJ-11 fax component and a dual-band wireless component. Copying can support both color and monochrome documents up to 50 copies from an original. The copy speed is up to 21 copies per minute (CPM), and the resolution is 600 x 600 dots per inch (dpi). The printer has two kinds of print cartridges, black and the other for tri-color for cyan, magenta, and yellow colors. The replacement cartridges include the HP 303 black and tri-color ink cartridge that prints up to 200 and 165 pages respectively. This printer also has a principle by the HP Thermal inkjet print technology and an automatic document feeder. The speed of the printer for monochrome printing is up to 15 pages per minute (ppm) and 10 ppm for color.

The resolution of the Envy model is up to 1200 x 1200 rendered dpi, especially when printing from a computer. The print area is about 209.9 by 349.6 mm while having a monthly print duty cycle of 1000 pages. Similarly, the most compatible print languages are HP PCL3 GUI emulation. The scanning feature is by the CIS modern technology with up to 1200 dpi resolution. It also has 256 levels of grayscale.
