Epson SureColor P800 Driver lets the computer communicate with the printer and prepares the connection for normal use. Setup can use USB, Ethernet, or the local wireless network on compatible Windows and macOS systems. The Epson SureColor P800 is a 17-inch photo printer built for photographic and fine-art output. It does not scan, copy, fax, or feed documents through an ADF. Printing comes from an eight-channel Advanced MicroPiezo AMC head, with 180 nozzles assigned to each channel. Nine UltraChrome HD pigment cartridges supply the colors, including separate Photo Black and Matte Black inks. A tilting 2.7-inch color touchscreen gives access to settings and printer status.

Output can reach 2880 × 1440 dpi, and the printhead produces droplets as small as 3.5 picoliters. Cut sheets start at 3.5 × 5 inches and extend to 17 × 22 inches. Longer prints can reach 129 inches when suitable paper is loaded. Borderless output is limited to supported photo sizes, with 17 × 22 inches as the largest option. The printer changes between Photo Black and Matte Black according to the selected paper type.

The top feeder takes up to 120 plain sheets, but photo paper reduces that capacity to 30 sheets. Thick stock uses the front path instead. Fine-art sheets and poster board up to 1.3 mm thick must enter one at a time. An optional roll holder accepts 17-inch rolls on 2-inch or 3-inch cores. Roll prints need manual cutting because no automatic cutter is fitted. Two-sided printing also requires manual page handling.

A nearby computer can connect through Hi-Speed USB 2.0. Ethernet is available for a wired network, and wireless jobs can travel over 802.11n Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi Direct connects compatible devices without relying on the home router. Epson iPrint and Apple AirPrint provide mobile printing access. With the trays closed, the body measures about 26.93 inches wide, 14.80 inches deep, and 9.85 inches high. It weighs roughly 43 pounds and uses about 21 watts during printing.
