Epson EcoTank ET-4905 is a cartridge-free A4 inkjet for printing, scanning, copying, and faxing. Its Micro Piezo printhead uses 180 black nozzles and 59 nozzles for each colour. Black, cyan, magenta, and yellow dye inks fill the four tanks from 65 ml bottles. A 3.7 cm colour LCD sits on the control panel for local setup and job selection.
Print resolution reaches 5,760 x 1,440 dpi, and the smallest ink droplet is 3 pl. ISO-rated output runs at 11 pages per minute in black or 6 pages per minute in colour. Draft mode raises those figures to 33 ppm and 15 ppm on suitable plain paper. The CIS scanner works at 1,200 x 2,400 dpi. A first page takes about 10 seconds in black and 16 seconds in colour.
Paper loads from a single rear tray with room for 100 plain sheets. The output tray holds 30 printed pages, so larger jobs need occasional clearing. A 30-sheet automatic document feeder processes single-sided originals without placing each page on the scanner glass. The rear feed accepts common office sizes from A6 to Legal. It also takes No. 10, DL, and C6 envelopes, plus several photo and custom paper sizes.
Automatic duplex hardware is not fitted, so two-sided pages must be turned by hand. Borderless printing is limited to sizes up to 10 x 15 cm. USB serves a nearby computer, and Ethernet connects the printer to a wired network. Wireless jobs can travel through the home network or directly by Wi-Fi Direct. AirPrint, Mopria, Epson Smart Panel, and Epson Connect provide mobile printing and scanning options. With the trays closed, the body measures 375 x 317 x 224 mm and weighs 5.5 kg.
