There are only two ways to connect this printer model with the computer. It can either be through the USB cable which must not be longer than 2 meters or through the infrared (IrDA) component. These two ways are only characteristic of the Brother PJ-522 and PJ-523, but the other model in the PocketJet series, the Brother PJ-562 and PJ-563 has an additional option of a wireless Bluetooth connection. It is however imperative to install the appropriate drivers before connecting the printer to the PC.

The printer also has a rechargeable Ni-MH battery that supplies up to 14.4 Volts and even an AC adapter that supplies 15 volts of current. The third power option is two types of cigarette car adapter and the wired kind of connection.

The battery yield is approximately 70 sheets of paper with a 5% printing duty with a density of 5 with a fully charged new battery. The standard USB port is the viable means of connectivity with the version 2.0 full speed port.
