This printer model as an enterprise device with a color flow classification for high productivity. It is also a multifunctioning device with the ability to send or receive fax, scan, print, and copy documents. The first page out from the ready mode prints as fast as 7 seconds after issuing the command. The duty cycle is up to 125,000 pages at maximum, but the recommended range is 2500 to 25000. The acceptable print technology is the HP PageWide Technology with various compatible drivers. For example, the drivers are PCL 6 discrete, Mac PS, HP universal print drivers (PCL6, PCL5, and PS for Windows). The print resolution reaches up to 1200 x 1200 optimized dots per inch (dpi) and 600 x 600 dpi at minimum.

The compatible paper types include plain, HP premium presentation is matte, and HP brochure matte. On the other hand, the color printing resolution is up to 2400 x 1200 optimized dpi from the minimum resolution. The display component of the printer is about 8 inches in diagonal using an XGA color graphic display (CGD) touchscreen. The internal processor of the machine can also run at a speed of up to 1.2 GHz. The compatible cartridges are four in number, each for black, cyan, magenta and yellow.

The mobile printing capability supports HP ePrint, Apple AirPrint, and Google Cloud Print. In terms of wireless printing, the compatible device is a built-in Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. Connectivity is also through two hi-speed USB 2.0 host and one Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000TX network. It also uses Bluetooth low energy and one RJ-11 modem port/phone line. The optional connectivity includes HP Jetdirect 3000w of a Near Field Communication or wireless accessory J8030A.
