The Deskjet 2546B supports some PC devices and operating systems. These include Windows XP (Service Pack III), Windows Vista, Windows 7 and other later versions. The minimum recommended system requirement is an Intel Pentium III for Windows XP. For Windows Vista, it takes a minimum of 800 MHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor. Whereas, for Windows 7 and later versions, the recommended processor speed is 1 GHz.

The resolution at which this printer produces monochrome pages is 600 x 600 dpi at its best mode. Whereas, the maximum dpi mode resolution is 4800 x 1200 optimized dpi. The print speed though varies for different document complexities, is 20 ppm for black and white and 16 ppm for color. The Deskjet 2546B printer has a monthly duty cycle of 1000 pages.

In a default mode, the printer performs the copy function at the rate of 4.5 cpm for black and 3.0 cpm for color pages. This function also can vary, depending on the exact printer model and the complexity of the input document. The copy resolution of the HP 2546B printer is 600 x 300 dpi for both color and black on white.
