There are two printing modes with this printer, the regular print, and ISO/IEC standard modes. In the usual way, printing black and white documents run at the rate of 33 pages per minute (ppm) for black-and-white or monochrome documents. On the other hand, color printing has a print rate of 15 ppm when using plain paper with an average weight of 75 gsm. Furthermore, the ISO/IEC standard print mode has a print rate of 9 ppm for monochrome and 4.5 ppm for color printing.
As a scanner, the Epson Expression Home XP-425 model supports single-sided scanning at the rate of 2.4 milliseconds per line at 300 dpi. At 600 dpi, the scan speed for black documents is 7.2 milliseconds per line. On the flip side, when scanning color documents, the rate is 9.5 milliseconds at 300 dpi and 14.3 milliseconds per line at 600 dpi. This model also has an optical resolution of 1200 x 2400 dpi. The scanner also implements the contact image sensor (CIS).
The machine supports A4 paper, A5, A6, B5, envelopes, letter, legal, photo paper sizes, and custom sizes as per paper handling.
