In terms of the print speed, the machine depends on the printing mode. For instance, printing in black and white is up to 23 pages per minute (ppm). At the fast method, the mixed text and color graphics printing is up to 16 ppm. Photo printing for the size of 8 by 10 inches is up to 2.3 ppm, but in normal mode, the rate is two ppm. The wired connectivity of the machine includes the parallel USB 2.0 port. Whereas, this option is the only means of connection for printing.

The Canon PIXMA i865 print model has a microfine droplet technology for image enhancement features. Whereas, direct printing specifications include the Canon Bubble Jet Direct and PictBridge. Printing with this machine is also compatible with envelopes, glossy photo cards, glossy photo paper, and a high-resolution paper. Besides, it also runs with matte photo paper, plain paper, and transparent films.

This machine is also compatible with black, cyan, magenta, and yellow cartridges, where each can print 440 pages of paper. On the other hand, another variant of the black cartridge model can print up to 330 pages. The maximum resolution for printing in both monochrome and color printing is 4800 x 1200 dots per inch (dpi). When the device is idle, the sound emission level is about 36 dBA, which is the least from the machine.
