The Epson ET-5170 printer model belongs to the ET series with the PrecisionCore print head and appropriate nozzle configuration. The machine contains up to 400 nozzles for black document printing and 128 nozzles for each color. This machine uses a spot of pigment ink and produces a printing resolution of up to 4800 x 1200 dots per inch (dpi). At the same time, its multifunctional features include printing, scanning, copying, and faxing. When working at the ISO/IEC 24734 standard mode, the print rate is about 17.5 pages per minute (ppm) for black and white printing. However, color printing under similar conditions is also up to 9.5 ppm. Besides, the first printout time is 7 seconds for black and 11 seconds per color.

Epson ET-5170 can produce up to 1600 pages in one month amidst the other specifications of the printer. When scanning, this machine can do a single-sided scan at a speed of 12 seconds with the flatbed scanner. However, the same single-sided scanning has a rate of 27 seconds for color pages. Its optical resolution is 1200 x 2400 dots per inch (dpi) for the horizontal and vertical sides. Moreover, it supports output formats such as the BMP, TIFF, PDF, JPEG, PICT, TIFF, and multi-TIFF.

In faxing, the machine walks by the walk-up black and white or color faxing. Meanwhile, the fax transmission speed is 33.6 kbps with an approximate 3 seconds per page rate.
