When using the compatible cartridges, the machine comprises 1472 nozzles containing 320 nozzles for black printing. Also, the color cartridge has up to 1152 nozzles for adequate print quality. Its minimum ink droplet size includes 2 and 5 picolitres (pl) for color printing under ideal conditions. Black document printing with this machine can also produce an average output resolution of 600 x 600 dots per inch (dpi).

The optimum color document print resolution is up to 4800 x 1200 dpi. Canon PIXMA MX340 model is also compatible with standard paper sizes such as letter, US envelopes, legal and photo paper sizes.
