This printer has an electrophotographic print technology and has a different speed which resonates with the media type in use. For instance, when printing on an A4 paper, the rate of printing is up to 30 pages per minute (ppm). On the letter, the speed is 32 ppm while it is up to 13 ppm for auto duplex printing. The auto duplex printing feature allows the printer to print on both sides of the page by itself. Users will also do well to note that the first print output gets released in less than 8.5 seconds.

Specifications

The resolution of the printing processes depends on the operating system in use, such as DOS which produces up to 600 dots per inch (dpi). Furthermore, using the Windows OS versions 2000, XP and Vista, the print resolution is up to 1200 dpi, 2400 x 1200 dpi at maximum and other resolutions are 600 dpi and 300 dpi. When the OS version is the Mac OS, the print resolution is similar to that of the Windows and Linux OS.

The printer also has a standard processor of the NEC model VR5500 and a speed of up to 300 MHz and a standard internal memory is 32 MB of RAM. However, there are other memory options in this printer such as 1 DIMM (144pin) and slot entry options of expandable memory such as 64 MB, 128 MB, 256 MB, and 512 MB.

There are some connectivity options for this printer to a PC such as USB, Ethernet, and WLAN. The standard method is through the standard USB 2.0 full speed port while others include the IEEE 1284 parallel component and the Ethernet 10/100base-TX. The supported network protocols also include TELNET, HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, APOP, POP, ICMP, and IPP/IPPS. This printer also supports some print languages such as the PCL6, BL-Script 3 (Postscript 3 language emulation), Epson FX-850 and IBM Pro-Printer XL.
