The printer has two cartridges, one black cartridge and a one tri-color which covers for cyan, yellow and magenta. The replacement options include HP 46 Black Ink cartridge with almost 1500 pages and the HP 46 Tri-color Ink cartridge for up to 750 pages. The print languages include HP PCL 3 GUI. Regarding connectivity, the options include a standard hi-speed USB 2.0 port. Apart from this, the printer has no mobile printing feature, no wireless, and nor HP ePrint.

The HP DeskJet Ultra Ink Advantage 2029 printer works with a maximum printing capacity of 1000 printed pages per month. However, the manufacturer recommends a range of 200 to 400 pages per month. It works with the HP Thermal Inkjet technology. The maximum resolution, however, is up to 4800 x 1200 optimized dpi input data, especially when printing from a computer on a photo paper. It has no display feature.

The printer is incapable of using a memory card, but it has an integrated memory. Regarding paper handling, the standard paper tray holds about 60 sheets while the output tray holds about 25 layers. The tray can also hold up to 5 envelopes and works well for borderless printing. The supported media sizes include A4, B5, B6, A5 and DL envelope.
